OT: What is a good laptop?!

Post by Fenz »

For:

- Watching movies on
- Surfing
- etc

Don't need anything fancy but the multi media part must be good. Any tips welcome.

Was looking at the HP Pavilion series. Seems decent

I have an Acer Aspire, works very well for me :) Mine is 2 years old now though, still works good. New model is good too:

I would check DELL - at least on their German homepage they have pretty good offers sometimes.
Friend of mine bought a Dell Laptop for surfing, DVDs etc. and is pretty happy with it. He bought it a few months ago (maybe 4) and he paid (give or take) EUR 1.100,--

What are your requirements on the following specifications, and how do you prioritize them:
- size (whole unit, screensize - 4:3 or 16:9),
- weight,
- battery life,
- speed (raw CPU and/or video speed).

If you just want to surf and watch movies, I'd take a look at those Apple notebooks. The MacOS really astonishes me.
