- Mage: Ritual of Refreshment now requires 2 arcane powder to cast instead of a rune of portals.

BE WARNED MAUGETAR! Bring more then 5 arcane powder to the raids from now on!

OMG OMG OMG

Mage: Ice Block to be trainable in a future patch

Kalgan answered to a player post about the recent change to Hypothermia and added that Ice Block will be trainable in a near future.

It's a deliberate change. We initially felt like it was too quick at 30s and decided to test it out at 45s, but after playing with it for a while we felt like it opened mages to focus fire a little too much so we decided to keep it at 30s. It's worth pointing out that making changes like this and later un-doing them is not at all uncommon, it's just most of you generally don't see that process in action since it often happens before the patch even gets to the PTR.

Since I'm here, I'll also make a small pre-emptive strike against the incoming "what about other mage concerns!" replies I'm about to get and say the following.

Two things we'll be making improvements to in the near future (although these aren't likely to make it in on time for 2.3) are having iceblock be trainable (to make sure all mages have it as a tool for pve encounters and to open up other trees as being more viable options for pvp), and to-be-finalized improvements to mana issues in longer fights.

nice to see that you get a trainable skill to make every spec viable in pvp whereas warriors have a pvp tree a pve dps tree and a tank tree

why not have a pvp pve and a watermachine tree for mages?

and while were on the topic my mage loves his iceblock yes he does

I bet we now get improved sheep at the spot of Iceblock!
200 Mana 20 yd range
Transforms the enemy into a helpless sheep that cannot cast spells or attack for up to 40 sec. The sheep no longer breaks if it takes damage.

(This imp sheep would actually be exactly like fear.....)

I feel a trainable arcane power incomming before next expension :P.

(Just make sure we whine enough on the forums!)

think they will put cold snap on place of ice block, and if they are smart they put a pve talent on cold snap place to make frost better for pve
