Same reason +DEFENSE's really not worth anything in PvP.
well defence doesnt lessen the others crit chance in pvp like it does in pve it only raises parry dodge and block in pvp

well when strolling around on the blizzard mage forum i came across a nice post, most mages that check the forum will have read it since its a sticky but ill post it anyways, its about AoE grinding.

We get the total statpoints of 232!

now look at this.

Ramiz, your post just proves that mages are overpowered, and that Blizzard finally realizes this fact. Hence they try to balance it by giving you less statpoints on gear. Logical, no?
